Just beyond a colorful barrier reef, lapped by gentle blue waters, lies the
softly curving crescent beach of Little Dix Bay, a place where forested
mountains are framed by sunlit skies, a paradise that offers a tranquility
found nowhere else in the Caribbean. The pristine shoreline and the soaring
rock cathedrals of the Baths of Virgin Gorda create an unrivaled setting in
which time seems to be suspended.
THE CHILDREN'S PROGRAM
The Children's Program at Little Dix Bay reflects the same thoughtfulness
and focus on environmental appreciation which was espoused by Laurance S.
Rockefeller in the founding days of the resort. Set amongst the shade of a
mahogany preserve is the Children's Grove, where pirate tales, calypso music
and Caribbean arts and crafts are but a few of the creative and indigenous
activities that will delight children of all ages.
With over 2,500 square feet of interior space, the Children's Grove at
Little Dix Bay is unique in the Caribbean. The facility boasts a miniature
Caribbean chattel house, dress-up parlor, arts and crafts center,
"monkey lounge", shipwreck, outside play area , full kitchen and
children's dining area, and many exciting tropical activities.
Led by experienced, fun-loving, caring staff, children participate in
nature walks, shell collecting, treasure hunts and other recreations which
bring them in direct contact with Little Dix's extraordinarily beautiful
environs.
Children may also delight in stone painting, Caribbean folk art and
literature, as well as West Indian musical instrument crafts, all of which
will become precious mementos of their visit to Little Dix Bay.
INFORMATION
Children's Grove Fast Facts: for ages 4-12; potty-trained 3-year-olds may be
eligible for part of the program. Open daily with sign-up 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Evening program with sign-up 6:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Register at the Children's
Grove for Morning and Full Day between 9:00 - 9:30 a.m., Afternoon Program
between 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. Dinner and Evening Program Registration Advanced
sign-up at the Children's Grove by 4:00 p.m. of same day required.
HOURS OF OPERATION
The Children's Grove is open Monday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. On Wednesdays and Fridays parents may also
leave their children with a counselor between 4:30 p.m. (5:00 p.m. in the
summer) and 6:00 p.m., if they are partaking in the resort's sunset cocktail
cruise (24 hours advance notice required). For children wishing to join in
the evening program, please make a reservation by 4:00 p.m., extension 302.
Rates are available from Little Dix. REGISTRATION
The program is designed for children over the age of three. (Children must
be out of diapers to participate in the program without a parent or nanny in
attendance). Registration is daily from 9:00 a.m. Counselors will share all
details of the program at that time with parents or guardians. Parents are
required to sign a registration/waiver form for their child before the
program commences
TEENAGERS
Within the Children's Grove is a Teen Room with a range of CD's and videos.
This air-conditioned private area also houses a lending library of
paperbacks and board games. Use of the teen room is complimentary. Special
activities for teenagers may also be arranged upon request.
NANNIES FEE:
$12.00 per hour for up to two related children, plus $3.00 per hour for one
additional related child. Maximum of three children per Nanny. Maximum of
two children per nanny if children are all under three years old. Little Dix
Bay is happy to offer our guests a selection of nannies. However, the nanny
is not hired by the resort for this service. Nannies are hired and paid for
directly by the guest at the time of the care. A minimum 24 hours notice is
requested so we may appropriately meet your family's requirements, however
we will do everything possible to fill your needs at any time. If you need
further information or to arrange for a nanny, please contact the Children's
Grove at extension 302. Note: rates are subject to change. DINING
Children's menus are available in the Beach Grill for lunch and in the
Pavilion for dinner, or through Room Service. Children under the age of 5
are not permitted in the Sugar Mill. Children over three years of age may
also dine with a counselor from the Children's Grove Monday through
Saturday. Reservations are required. High chairs and booster chairs are
available for guests use in the dining rooms.
MONDAY EVENING PIRATE PARTY
A children's Pirate Party and buffet is held every Monday at the same time
as the Manager's Cocktail Party ($30.00 per child/$20.00 if on a meal plan).
Parents are respectfully asked to refrain from bringing young children to
the Cocktail party. Note: price is subject to change. BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Birthday parties for children may be arranged, with advance notice, at a
minimum cost of $50.00. This includes a birthday cake and party favors. NOTE:
price is subject to change. ROOM RESERVATION AND CHILDREN'S POLICIES
There is no charge for one child, up to 16 years, staying in the parents'
room. We offer a second bedroom for children (16 years and under)
accompanying their parents, at 50% off the daily room rate June 1 - October
