Tips for Planning an Orlando Vacation on a Budget

ORLANDO, Fla./PRNewswire/ Families anticipating car travel should start early to invest time in planning. Preparing ahead can save time and money with better rates on airfare, rental cars and accommodations, says the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau. To squeeze the most out of your vacation budget, try these money-saving tips:

* Get your vacation savings off the ground by booking on one of the many low-cost airlines. Among those servicing Orlando International Airport are AirTran Airways, America West, Condor, Delta Express, Independence Air, JetBlue, MetroJet, Midwest Express, Spirit Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, Ted, and US Airways Express.

* Save cool cash on hot hotel deals. Visitors will find great savings on Orlando hotel rooms at www.orlandoinfo.com. Check out the "Top Deals" section on the left hand side of the home page for discounted rates.

* Start saving before you leave by requesting information and discount cards for the destination of your choice. Orlando offers a free vacation planning kit that includes the Orlando Magicard®, a free discount card that allows vacationers to save up to $500 at 103 area establishments from attractions, accommodations, restaurants and dinner theaters to ground transportation and shopping malls. In addition, Orlando's "Mature Travelers Guide" lists special offers available to seniors.

* Choose a hotel that fits your budget and when booking accommodations, make sure you request any special discounts, such as automobile associations, military, senior, etc. With more than 102,000 hotel rooms, Orlando boasts a variety of accommodation options to satisfy any budget.

* Save time and money when you arrive at your destination by making your first stop the Official Visitor Center. The Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc.'s Official Visitor Center provides discount tickets to attractions and cultural performances, assistance in locating last-minute accommodations, maps, brochures and much more.

* Don't feel as if you have to eat every meal at an expensive restaurant. Look for restaurants where "kids eat free" and ask the locals about their favorite low-cost restaurants.

*Travelers can also find savings by booking on the Internet, calling their travel agent and visiting bargain attractions. To plan an Orlando vacation, visit the Orlando Web site at www.orlandoinfo.com or call 1-800-551-0181 or 407-363-5872 or visit the Official Visitor Center at 8723 International Drive on the southeast corner of International Drive and Austrian Row. Ask for your complimentary "Official Visitors Guide."
