'GoBabies, we're at the farm to pick berries. Lots of berries!' says Mrs.
Valentine.
"Blueberries?" asks Violet.
"Yes, for blueberry muffins," replies Violet's mom.
"Red berries?" inquires Simon.
"Red raspberries for raspberry jam." Mrs. Valentine responds.
"And blackberries..."
"For my bunny!" chirps Lincoln.
"Well...for your bunny and blackberry pie!" says Mrs. Valentine.
"Mrs. Valentine, may I have some money to feed the ducks?" asks
Lincoln. Mrs. Valentine hands Lincoln the coin as Roxy chases the ducks
away.
"All right. I brought a snack. You can eat it now before we
start." She flips up the lid of her basket, exposing carrots, apples
and crackers and cheese. Simon takes an apple.
"I want berries!" declares Violet.
"What happened to the other coin?" Mrs. Valentine wants to know.
"The geese ate the corn I got for the ducks." Lincoln explains.
Roxy knows she is to blame for the ducks not getting the corn. Red gets
satisfaction in seeing her squirm.
"Maybe later, Lincoln. Right now it's time to..."
"...pick berries!" everyone shouts.
"Race you!" challenges Simon. They all run to the berry patch.
"Here are your buckets. Let's start with the raspberries. Careful -
they're prickly!" says Mrs. Valentine.
"Ouch!"
"Ouch!"
"Yoweeee!"
"Maybe the jam will have to wait," sighs Mrs. Valentine.
"Let's try the blackberries," she suggests.
"These are the purple berries!" Simon exclaims.
"But they're called blackberries," points out Violet.
"And these are called bees!" shouts Simon. Everyone runs away.
"There goes the pie!" says Mrs. Valentine, disappointed. "I'm
sure the blueberries will be OK," she adds with lots of hope.
"One, two, three." Violet puts the berries in her bucket.
"One, two, three." Simon puts them in his mouth.
"Red, have you seen Lincoln?" Mrs. Valentine calls out. (Red
points to two shoes peeping out from the blueberry plants. Lincoln is lying
on his back picking the berries. Mrs. Valentine goes over to inspect.
Lincoln's back is covered with blueberry juice.)
"You've picked a lot of berries Lincoln. Good job. A little creativity
goes a long way!" exclaims Mrs. Valentine proudly.
"We're going to have some delicious muffins, right Mrs.
Valentine?" Simon asks.
"We sure are Simon. You all did a great job." she replies. (Farmer
Gary pulls up his tractor cart.)
"Mom, can we?" Violet asks.
"Sure. Hop up!" she replies. (GoBabies sit in the back with the
buckets of blueberries.)
"How'd you make out?" inquires Farmer Gary.
"Well, we got enough to make muffins!" answered Mrs. Valentine.
(To her surprise, she turns around and sees the blueberries all over the
GoBabies faces.) "Where are all the berries?" she asks, knowing
full well they are all gon
The GoBabies have 'woops' written all over their faces. Roxy points to the
Farm store in response to Mrs. Valentine's question. Red is not happy that
Roxy has saved the day.
"Let's go get some berries!" Mrs. Valentine sighs. They go into
the farm store.
